School Furniture Shop is operated by Fairmont Commercial Furniture Pty. Ltd. (ABN 30 105 243 114).
Our voluntary warranties are provided in addition to any rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Fairmont-manufactured soft furnishing frames — 20-year voluntary warranty
Furniture we design and build ourselves in Tasmania — soft furnishing frames — carries a 20-year voluntary warranty against structural failure under normal intended school use.
The 20-year warranty applies to the frame only and excludes fabric and foam.
Other Fairmont-manufactured products — 3-year voluntary warranty
Other products manufactured by Fairmont, including tote trolleys, steel-frame tables and similar Fairmont-manufactured products, carry a 3-year voluntary warranty.
What the voluntary warranty covers
The applicable Fairmont voluntary warranty: begins from the installation date; applies to the original purchaser; applies Australia-wide; includes reasonable labour required for an approved warranty remedy; includes reasonable freight or collection costs associated with an approved warranty claim; and allows Fairmont, depending on the circumstances, to inspect or repair the product onsite or require the product to be returned for assessment or repair.
These provisions relate to Fairmont's voluntary warranty and do not limit any remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law.
What the voluntary warranty does not cover
Fairmont's voluntary warranty does not cover damage, deterioration or failure caused by: misuse; abuse; abnormal loads; outdoor use where the product is not designed for outdoor use; unauthorised modification; fair wear and tear; fabric wear; or staining.
For Fairmont-manufactured soft furnishings, the 20-year frame warranty does not cover fabric or foam.
These exclusions apply to Fairmont's voluntary warranty only. They do not exclude rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Resold products
Most of our range is sourced through trusted supplier partners rather than manufactured by Fairmont. These products may be covered by the original manufacturer's warranty, where one is offered. Warranty terms vary by supplier and product.
Tell us which product you are considering and we can confirm the applicable manufacturer's warranty before you place your order.
Any manufacturer's warranty is additional to rights that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.
Making a warranty claim
If something is not right, contact us and we will assess the issue.
Many issues can be handled through Fairmont's in-house Repair & Reupholstery service. Depending on the circumstances, we may inspect or repair the product onsite, arrange collection, or require the product to be returned for assessment or repair.
This warranty process does not limit any remedy you may be entitled to choose under the Australian Consumer Law.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
The Fairmont voluntary warranty is provided in addition to, and does not limit or exclude, rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
ACCC guidance confirms that warranties are additional promises and cannot replace or remove statutory consumer guarantees.
Mandatory Australian Consumer Law statement
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
